    Pockets: SCOTT FRIED

    This is a very important journal. Several days ago, our high school had a guest speaker. His name is Scott Fried. He talked about AIDs and living with AIDs, growing up as a teenager, and homosexuality. His presentation was incredibly powerful. He showed the whole school what it means to have AIDs, being a teenager, and being homosexual.
    One subject Fried talked the most about was secrets. He talked about how everyone has their secrets, not necessarily being homosexual, but anything from self-mutilating to sleeping with someone you shouldn't. The expression he used was that people walk around with their hands in their pockets, where they keep their secrets, but there are few who take their hands out and show the world their secrets. It's a bold move. And most of you are familiar with postsecret.com where this is commonly done, if not anonymously.
    So i'd like to feature postsecret in this journal. [link] visit ever sunday when they put up new posts. I've submitted stuff there more then once and it's a great way to get something off your chest.
    One thing i would like to say about Scott Fried is that he inspired me to take my hands out of my pockets, if even just a little. He talked to me one on one about coming out of the closet. He gave me advice with my homophobe dad and my unhelpful mother. It was enough to put a smile back on my face and i wish i had his sort of determination and helpfulness.

    So as a bonus in this journal, i would like to give you a little information about AIDs. The five body fluids that transfer HIV AIDs are blood, semen, vaginal fluid, preseminal fluid, and breast milk. This transmission can involve anal, vaginal or oral sex, blood transfusion, contaminated hypodermic needles, exchange between mother and baby during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding, or other exposure to one of the above bodily fluids.
    Unfortunately, there is no known cure for AIDs, but the safest way to keep away from being infected is to have safe sex and not to share needles. Keep in mind that AIDs cannot only be transfered homosexually. It also infects heterosexuals.


    The second part of this journal is dedicated to the picture i have submitted. [link] Like i said, i am beginning to take my hands out of my pockets. The picture i've drawn is the only picture i've drawn in a long time where i really love it. I have an enormous emotional connection to the picture. To show everyone, it was a dictation of five of my secrets. Those secrets are that i used to cut myself, i used to be anorexic, i had a history of popping my medication, i smoke, and i am transexual (girl --> guy)
    I am beginning to be more confident with myself and i think drawing and posting this picture was a huge leap forward for my personality.
    If you really appreciate what i've done and you are ready to show everyone some of your secrets, please draw them and incorporate the phrase "Your Secrets Are Safe With Me."
